Hi, I'm Julie!
I'm a communications strategist based in Washington, DC, working at the intersection of politics, storytelling, digital media, and public service.
I currently serve as Digital Director and Press Secretary for a Democratic member in the House of Representatives, where I lead digital strategy and work across press, rapid response, franked communications, and oversee creative strategy. I also serve as the Communications Director for the Democratic Digital Communications Staff Association, representing more than 1,000 congressional communications staffers and helping advance the role of digital strategy on Capitol Hill.
My work is rooted in a simple idea: good communications should make complicated issues understandable, meet audiences where they actually are, and give people a reason to care. My background spans congressional communications, political consulting, marketing leadership, brand strategy, crisis communications, and creative production. In 2026, I was named one of CNCT’s Top 10 Digital Staffers.
My path here has been slightly unconventional. I started as a child actor in Atlanta. When the Oscar never materialized, I briefly pivoted toward culinary before politics and communications took over. Along the way, I learned that whether you're building a brand, producing a film, responding to a crisis, or explaining policy, the job is ultimately the same: understand the audience, find the story, and communicate it well. And if there is a cookie competition somewhere in the middle, join it.
I hold a Master of Arts in Political Communication from American University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Northern Arizona University, with minors in Creative Media & Film and Political Science.
Outside of my passion for comms, I'm usually watching an unreasonable number of movies, baking some weird cookie combo, planning my next solo eclipse hunting trip, or just hanging out with my cats.
Thanks for stopping by!
